Haydn/ Chang/ Stankovsky - Piano Concertos 4, 7, 9 & 11The Concerto in G major, Hob. XVIII: 4, comes from a later period, scored for harpsichord or forte piano and strings with pairs of oboes and horns as required. It was written by 1781 and in spite of it's undoubted authenticity fell under suspicion from contemporary critics, since the name of Haydn was now being used unscrupulously by ambitious publishers and promoters. It has been suggested that this concerto, a work of obvious charm, was written for
Victor Staub (1872-1953) and Lazare-Lévy (1882-1964) were both students of Louis Diémer at the Paris Conservatoire in the latter part of the 19th century and both were to follow in his footsteps as great teachers in that institution and elsewhere
